Applications are invited from eligible Indian citizens for recruitment to the posts of Head Constable (Steward), Head Constable (Communication), Head Constable (Electrician), and Head Constable (Veterinary) in Group-'C' Non-Gazetted (Combatised) & Non-Ministerial in Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The posts are temporary but likely to continue.

Pay Scale
- Posts: Head Constables (Steward, Communication, Electrician and Veterinary)
- Pay Level: Level-4
- Pay Matrix: Rs. 25,500 - 81,100/-
- Other Allowances: Dearness Allowance, Ration Money, House Rent Allowance, and other allowances as admissible in SSB from time to time as per Government orders.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Head Constable (Steward)
- Age Limit: Between 18 and 27 years.
- Educational Qualification:
i) 12th class pass from a recognized Board.
ii) Diploma of a minimum of two years in Catering and Kitchen management from a recognized institution.
iii) Minimum one year of working experience as a Steward in a minimum hundred-bedded hospital or institution.
2. Head Constable (Communication)
- Age Limit: Between 18 and 27 years.
- Educational Qualification:
i) 12th class in Science with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from a recognised Board; OR
ii) Should have a three-year diploma in Electronics or Communications or Computer Science or Information Technology from a recognised Institute.
3. Head Constable (Electrician)
- Age Limit: Between 18 and 25 years.
- Educational Qualification:
i) Matriculation or equivalent.
ii) Two years of work experience in the respective trade; OR
iii) One-year certificate course from an ITI or Vocational Institute with at least one year of experience; OR
iv) Two years Diploma from an ITI in the respective trade.
v) Must qualify trade test.
4. Head Constable (Veterinary)
- Age Limit: Between 18 and 27 years.
- Educational Qualification:
i) 12th class pass with Science and Biology as the main subject.
ii) Possess a two-year Diploma Course in Veterinary and Livestock Development or Veterinary Stock Assistant Course or Animal Husbandry Course from a recognized institution.
Age Relaxation
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- Ex-Servicemen: 3 years after deduction of military service.
- Departmental Candidates (Central Govt.): Up to 40 years (UR), 43 years (OBC), 45 years (SC/ST).
- Other relaxations are applicable as per government norms for specific categories like residents of J&K and Ladakh, and victims of the 1984 riots.
Application Fee
- UR/EWS/OBC: ₹100/- (Rupees one hundred only).
- SC/ST/Ex-Serviceman/Female candidates: Exempted from payment of fee.
- Mode of Payment: Net-banking/ credit card/ debit card/UPI.
Selection Process
The selection process will consist of the following stages:
Stage I: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST)
- PET:
- Male: 1.6 Kms race in 6 Minutes 30 Seconds.
- Female: 800 Meter race in 4 minutes.
- Ex-servicemen are exempted from PET.
- PST: Minimum height and chest requirements vary for different posts and categories. Candidates must meet the prescribed standards.
Stage II: Written Examination
- A Computer Based Test (CBT) of 3 hours duration will be conducted.
- Total Marks: 150
- Part-I (50 Marks): General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning, General English/General Hindi.
- Part-II (100 Marks): Technical Subject.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks:
- 50% for Gen, EWS, OBC & Ex-SM.
- 45% for SC and ST.
Stage III: Skill Test
- This stage is only for the post of Head Constable (Electrician).
- The test will be for 50 marks, and the minimum qualifying mark is 60%.
- The skill test is qualifying in nature.
Stage IV: Documentation & Detailed Medical Examination (DME)/Review Medical Examination (RME)
- Candidates will be shortlisted for Documentation and DME based on merit in the written examination.
- Original documents will be verified.
- Candidates must be found medically fit as per the standards.
