Introduction

Online applications are invited from citizens of India, Nepal, and Bhutan for filling up 233 vacancies for the posts of Head Constable (Steward), Head Constable (Communication), Head Constable (Electrician), and Head Constable (Veterinary) in Group-'C' Non-Gazetted (Combatised) & Non-Ministerial cadre in Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The posts are temporary but likely to continue.

Pay Scale

  • Level-4 in Pay Matrix: Rs. 25,500 - 81,100/- as per 7th CPC. Other allowances as admissible.

Head Constable (Steward) Between 18 and 27 years i) 12th class pass from a recognized Board. ii) Two-year Diploma in Catering and Kitchen management. iii) Minimum one year's working experience as a Steward in a minimum hundred-bedded hospital or institution.
Head Constable (Communication) Between 18 and 27 years i) 12th class in Science with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from a recognized Board; OR ii) Three years diploma in Electronics or Communications or Computer Science or Information Technology from a recognized Institute.
Head Constable (Electrician) Between 18 and 25 years i) Matriculation or equivalent. ii) Two years work experience in the respective trade; OR iii) One-year certificate from a recognized ITI/Vocational Institute with at least one year experience; OR iv) Two years Diploma from a recognized ITI in the respective trade. v) Must qualify trade test.
Head Constable (Veterinary) Between 18 and 27 years i) 12th class pass with Science and Biology as main subjects. ii) Two years Diploma Course in Veterinary and Livestock Development or Veterinary Stock Assistant Course or Animal Husbandry Course from a recognized institution.

Application Fee

  • UR, EWS, and OBC: Rs. 100/- (Non-Refundable)
  • SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, and Female candidates: Exempted from fee payment.
  • Mode of Payment: Net-banking/ Credit Card/ Debit Card/ UPI.

How to Apply

Candidates must apply online through the SSB recruitment website: https://recruitment.ssb.gov.in/ or https://ssb.gov.in/. Applications received through any other mode will be rejected. Candidates can apply for only one post.

Selection Process

Stage-I: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST)

  • PET:
    • Male: 1.6 Kms race in 6 minutes 30 seconds.
    • Female: 800-meter race in 4 minutes.
    • Ex-servicemen are exempted from PET.
  • PST: Candidates qualifying PET will undergo PST. Height and chest requirements vary based on category and region. Refer to the detailed advertisement for specific measurements.

Stage-II: Written Examination

  • A Computer Based Test (CBT) / Common Entrance Test of 3 hours duration and 150 marks will be conducted.
  • Part-I (50 Marks): General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning, General English/General Hindi.
  • Part-II (100 Marks): Technical Subject.
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks:
    • Gen, EWS, OBC & Ex-SM: 50%
    • SC & ST: 45%

Stage-III: Skill Test (Only for Head Constable - Electrician)

  • This test will be of 50 marks and qualifying in nature. The minimum qualifying marks for all candidates will be 60%. Marks will not be included in the final merit list.

Stage-IV: Documentation & Detailed Medical Examination (DME) / Review Medical Examination (RME)

  • Candidates will be shortlisted for documentation and DME based on merit in the written examination, up to 3 times the number of vacancies (category-wise).

Final Selection

The final selection list will be prepared category-wise in order of merit based on the marks obtained in the written examination.
