Important Notice

Applications are invited from eligible and interested candidates for the posts of Head Constable (Laboratory Assistant), Head Constable (Physiotherapy Assistant), and Constable (Nursing Assistant cum Medic) in Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. These posts are Group-'C' Non-Gazetted (Combatised) & Non-Ministerial. The posts are temporary but likely to continue.

Pay Scale (as per 7th CPC)

  • Head Constable (Laboratory Assistant) & Head Constable (Physiotherapy Assistant): Level-4 (Rs. 25,500 - 81,100/-)
  • Constable (Nursing Assistant cum Medic): Level-3 (Rs. 21,700 - 69,100/-)

Eligibility Conditions

Age Limit

  • Between 18 and 27 years for all posts.
  • The crucial date for determining age shall be the closing date of receipt of applications.

Essential Educational & Professional Qualification

  • Head Constable (Laboratory Assistant):
    • 12th class pass with Biology from a recognized Board.
    • Certificate course of a minimum of one year in Laboratory Assistant Course.
    • Minimum one year of working experience as a Lab Assistant in a recognized laboratory.
  • Head Constable (Physiotherapy Assistant):
    • 12th class pass from a recognized Board.
    • Certificate course of a minimum of one year in Physiotherapy.
    • Minimum one year of experience as a Physiotherapy Assistant in a recognized hospital or institute.
  • Constable (Nursing Assistant cum Medic):
    • 10th class pass from a recognized Board.
    • First Aid certificate course from St. John's Ambulance Organization or Red Cross Society of India.
    • Minimum one year of experience as a Nursing Assistant in a minimum fifty-bedded hospital or institution.

Age Relaxation

Age relaxation is applicable for various categories as per Central Government orders:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • Ex-Servicemen: 3 years after deduction of military service.
  • Departmental Candidates (Central Govt.): Up to 40 years for UR and 45 years for SC/ST.

Application Fee

  • UR, EWS, and OBC: ₹100/- (Non-Refundable).
  • SC, ST, Ex-Serviceman, and female candidates: Exempted from fee payment.
  • Payment Mode: Net-banking/ Credit card/ Debit card/ UPI.

Selection Process

The selection process will consist of the following stages:

Stage I: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST)

  • PET:
    • For Head Constables (Male): 1.6 Kms race in 6 minutes 30 seconds.
    • For Head Constables (Female): 800 Meter race in 4 minutes.
    • For Constables (Male): 4.8 Kms race in 24 minutes.
    • For Constables (Female): 2.4 Kms race in 18 minutes.
  • PST: Candidates who qualify PET will undergo PST. Minimum height and chest requirements vary for different categories and regions.

Stage II: Written Examination

  • For Head Constable (Lab Assistant & Physiotherapy Assistant): Computer Based Test (CBT) of 3 hours duration with 150 multiple-choice questions on General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning, General English/Hindi, and a technical subject.
  • For Constable (Nursing Assistant cum Medic): Common Entrance Test of 2 hours duration with 100 multiple-choice questions on General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning, and General English/Hindi.
  • Marking Scheme: +1 for a correct answer, and a deduction of 0.25 marks for an incorrect answer.

Stage III: Documentation & Medical Examination

  • Candidates qualified in the written examination will be shortlisted for Document Verification and Detailed Medical Examination (DME).
  • The merit list will be drawn based on marks obtained in the written examination.
