Minimum Qualification and Experience

Assistant Professor (Engineering/Technology)

Essential Qualifications: B.E. / B.Tech. / B.S. and M.E. / M.Tech. / M.S. or Integrated M.Tech. in a relevant branch with first class or equivalent in any one of the degrees.

Associate Professor (Engineering & Technology)

Essential Qualifications: (a) Ph.D. degree in the relevant field and First class or equivalent at either Bachelor's or Master's level in the relevant branch. AND (b) At least a total of 6 research publications in SCI journals / UGC / AICTE approved list of journals. AND (c) Minimum of 8 years of experience in teaching / research / industry, out of which at least 2 years shall be Post Ph.D. experience.

Note: Out of the required research publications for Associate Professor, a minimum of 3 publications should be Science Citation Index (SCI) or Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) for Engineering & Technology (CSE/IT, ECE, ICE, EE) posts.

General Note on Qualifications

  1. Equivalence for Ph.D. is based on publication of 5 International Journal papers (each with a cumulative impact index of not less than 2.0), with the incumbent as the main author and all 5 publications in their area of specialization.
  2. Ph.D. must be from a recognized University.
  3. Experience at Diploma Level Polytechnic may be considered equivalent to degree level experience.
  4. If a class/division is not awarded, a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate shall be considered equivalent to first class/division. For Grade Point System, CGPA conversion to equivalent marks is provided:
    • 6.25 Grade Points = 55% Equivalent Percentage
    • 6.75 Grade Points = 60% Equivalent Percentage
    • 7.25 Grade Points = 65% Equivalent Percentage
    • 7.75 Grade Points = 70% Equivalent Percentage
    • 8.25 Grade Points = 75% Equivalent Percentage (Applicable if conversion formula is not provided by the degree awarding University/Institutions)
  5. B.Sc.(Engineering) is equivalent to BE/B.Tech.
  6. M.Sc. (Engineering) and MS are equivalent to ME/M.Tech. if acquired from Institutes of national importance recognized by MHRD and the basic degree is BE/B.Tech. in a relevant branch. MS degrees from accredited foreign Universities/Institutions require AIU equivalency approval.
  7. Ph.D. acquired directly after B.E./B.Tech. is applicable in Technical Institutions if awarded by a University following UGC prescribed processes or by Institutes of national importance (IITs/IISc/NITs etc.), and the candidate has obtained at least first class at Bachelor's level in Engineering/Technology.
  8. Existing faculty recruited with basic minimum qualifications (e.g., M.Sc. in various fields, MCA, PGDM) considered eligible at the time of recruitment or admission before 2010-03-13 AICTE Gazette publication, are eligible for direct recruitment subject to fulfilling other eligibility criteria.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  2. Educational qualification, experience, age, and other eligibility conditions will be determined as on the closing date of submission of online application (2025-11-11).

Age Limit (As on 2025-11-11)

  • Assistant Professor: 35 years
  • Associate Professor: 50 years

Conditions for Age Relaxation and Reservation Benefits

  1. Age relaxation will be granted in accordance with DoPT Guidelines (OM No. DOPT-1667569393892 dated 2022-09-06).
  2. Reservation benefits will be available to EWS/SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates as per Govt. of NCT of Delhi instructions.
  3. Candidates seeking reservation/age relaxation must possess all relevant certificates (EWS/SC/ST/OBC(Delhi) Non Creamy layer (NCL)/PwBD/Educational/Experience) valid for the financial year 2025-26 (issued between 2025-04-01 and the closing date of online application). Otherwise, their claim will not be entertained, and applications will be considered against un-reserved (UR) category vacancies if eligible, without age relaxation.
  4. Only OBC (Delhi) candidates notified by Govt. of NCT of Delhi will receive reservation/age relaxation benefits. OBC (Outside Delhi) candidates will be treated as un-reserved (UR) candidates and must apply under the UR category. OBC (Delhi) candidates must have a non-creamy layer certificate issued by Competent Authority between 2025-04-01 and the closing date of online application.
  5. Failure to produce valid category certificates during document verification will lead to cancellation of candidature. Candidates are advised to obtain required valid certificates before the closing date of online application.
  6. If a candidate claiming reservation fails to produce a valid certificate, their candidature will be cancelled in the reserved category and treated as Unreserved (if otherwise eligible).
  7. EWS candidates must furnish a self-attested copy of a valid Income & Asset certificate for financial year 2025-26, issued on or before the closing date of online application.
  8. EWS/SC/ST/OBC candidates selected on the same standard as a General Category candidate will be treated as General Category and counted in the unreserved merit list. However, if they claim any relaxation (age, experience, qualification), their candidature will be treated under the reserved category and counted strictly against reserved vacancies.
  9. EWS/SC/ST candidates from other states are eligible to apply under their respective category upon submission of relevant certificates.
  10. No age relaxation will be applicable for SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against general vacancies.

How to Apply

  1. After submitting applications through ONLINE mode, candidates must take a printout of the application form and send it along with self-attested copies of all relevant certificates/documents to the Registrar, NSUT.
  2. Ensure final submission of the online application.
  3. Only information provided online will be given weightage.
  4. Maintain a valid email ID until the recruitment process is completed. No change of email ID will be entertained later.
  5. The online application portal will be active from 10:00 hours on 2025-10-06 to midnight hours on 2025-11-11.
  6. Candidates applying for more than one post must apply and submit separate application forms with requisite fees for each post.

Note: SC/ST/PwBD candidates applying for a General Category post will pay fees as per Sub-Clause (b) above. Failure to pay requisite fees will result in rejection of applications.

The hard copy (printout) of the filled application form along with all enclosures must reach on or before 2025-11-26 by 5:00 p.m. The envelope must be superscribed with “Application for the post of ________ in ________ Department in NSUT” and other details.

General Conditions

  1. All entrants will be covered mandatorily under the New Pension Scheme (NPS).
  2. Selection procedure will be transparent, objective, and based on merit.
  3. Possession of minimum qualifications does not guarantee a call for written test/interview. The University reserves the right to shortlist candidates based on criteria in the advertisement.
  4. Experience certificates must clearly mention Pay Scale/Remuneration, Period of service, Name of the post, and whether full-time/part-time, regular/contract/adhoc. Certificates lacking these details will not be valid.
  5. Age verification will be based on the Class "X" (Matriculation) Certificate.
  6. Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
  7. Candidates already in Govt./Semi-Govt service/Autonomous Institutions/PSU/Universities must apply with a 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC). Failure to attach NOC requires its production at document verification prior to Teaching Aptitude Assessment (TAA) & interview.
  8. Online applications must be submitted by 2025-11-11, and hard copies by 2025-11-26 (5:00 p.m.). Original certificates will be verified during Document Verification/TAA & Interview.
  9. Candidates are advised to submit applications well before the closing date to avoid technical issues. NSUT is not responsible for delays.
  10. Original Educational qualification/Category certificates must be produced for verification. No additional time will be allowed.

  12. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in written examination/Document Verification/TAA & Interview.
  13. Incomplete applications or those received after the last date will not be considered. Both online and hard copies must be received by the due date.

Screening and Assessment Guidelines (Annexure-A)

General Guidelines

  • Direct recruitment will be based on merit through all-India advertisement and selection by duly constituted Selection Committees.
  • The University may restrict the number of candidates called for interview (normally 12 for the first post, 5 for each subsequent post) based on Screening Committee recommendations, considering qualifications, experience, scholarly credentials, and academic achievements.
  • A written test is mandatory for Assistant Professor shortlisting. Only candidates scoring above minimum cut-off marks will be considered for further assessment.
  • A list of eligible candidates, ranked by points scored as per Table 'A' (Academic record, Research performance, scholarly credentials), will be drawn for shortlisting for Teaching Aptitude Assessment (TAA) & Interview.
  • In case of a tie for the last slot, all candidates with the same score will be called for interview.
  • Candidates must score a minimum of 30% points for General/OBC/EWS and 25% for SC/ST/PwBD to be called for TAA & interview, based on Table-A weightage.

Conduct of Written Test for Shortlisting of Candidates for Assistant Professor

  • Applications will be sorted by eligibility criteria.
  • A list of provisionally eligible candidates for the written test will be uploaded on the University website.
  • Admit Cards will be downloadable from the University website.
  • The written test syllabus will be uploaded on the University website.
  • The date of the Written Test will be notified on the University website.

Cut-off for Written Test:

  • Relative Cut-off: 50% for Gen/OBC/EWS and 45% for SC/ST/PwBD of 'X' (average score of the top five candidates).
  • Absolute Cut-off: 35% for Gen/OBC/EWS and 30% for SC/ST/PwBD of the total marks.
  • The higher of the relative and absolute cut-offs will be the final cut-off.

Categorization of Journals

Latest list of indexing and impact factor of journals will be considered.

  • Category I – Outstanding Research Publications: Papers in Nature, Science. Candidate must be first/second or corresponding author.
  • Category II – Premier Research Publications: SCI/SSCI/SCIE indexed journals (Thomson Reuters/Clarivate Analytics) with impact factor of at least 2.0 for IEEE Transactions and IET (formerly, IEE UK) Journals; and at least 1.0 for others (e.g., Proceedings of Royal Society, American Mathematical Society, etc.). Also, SCI/SSCI or SCI expanded Indexed Journals with impact factor equal to or more than 4 will be considered. Candidate must be first/second or corresponding author.
  • Category III – Commendable Research Publications: SCI/SSCI/SCIE indexed journals (Thomson Reuters/Clarivate Analytics) with impact factor of at least 1.0 (e.g., IEEE Transactions IEEE Journals, Springer, Elsevier, Taylor and Francis, Oxford University Press, etc.). Also, SCI/SSCI or SCI expanded Indexed Journals not listed above with impact factor of at least 1.5 will be considered. Candidate must be first/second or corresponding author.

Seminar/Presentation by Short-listed Candidates

  • Teaching aptitude will be assessed through a classroom lecture.
  • Shortlisted candidates will make a presentation before the Selection Committee prior to the interview. Grading will be 'A' (Very Good), 'B' (Good), 'C' (Average), or 'D' (Below Average).

Overall Weightages for Final Selection

  • 50% weightage on points/scores earned from Table A criteria (Academic record, Research performance, scholarly credentials).
  • 50% weightage on interview performance (including teaching aptitude/ability feedback).
  • Minimum cut-off marks for selection: 50 out of 100 for General, OBC, EWS; 45 for SC/ST/PwBD.
